Overview
The Executive Programme in Quranic Studies (EPQS) is a modular programme offered by the Institute for Language Advancement (IfLA), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). This programme offers the public community modular Quranic and Hadith studies that start from the basic knowledge until the knowledge of Qiraat.
Classes are conducted by experienced and qualified IIUM instructors in both Gombak and Kuantan campuses, combining theoretical instruction with practical application to support effective learning outcomes.

Participants must be 18 years old and above with basic Qur’anic recitation skills, including the ability to recognise Arabic letters.
For convocation eligibility, students must successfully complete all five (5) levels of the programme.
Each level of the programme is carefully structured to balance academic rigour with participant flexibility.
Each level: 20 hours
Structure: 10 sessions × 2 hours per session
Total Programme Duration:
5 levels × 20 hours = 100 contact hours
The modular design allows participants to progress level by level according to their learning pace and availability.
2026 Intake Schedule
Term 1: 14 February 2026 – 25 April 2026
Term 2: 6 June 2026 – 8 August 2026
Term 3: 12 September 2026 – 14 November 2026
Detailed class schedules will be announced prior to each term, subject to academic planning and enrolment numbers.
The EPQS follows a modular, level-based structure designed to ensure gradual and coherent mastery of the Quran.

- Pre-Certification 1 (Examination)
- Pre-Certification 2 (Examination)
Important Notes:
For convocation eligibility, students are required to successfully complete all five (5) levels of the programme.
The programme adopts a transparent, per-level fee structure to provide flexibility and accessibility for learners.
Fee per level: RM350
Total (5 levels): RM350 × 5 = RM1,750

Fees are calculated based on the number of levels undertaken by the participant.
Short Courses
IfLA’s short courses are advanced learning programmes, designed to offer targeted skill enhancement in Quranic recitation. These elective courses operate consecutively from our main academic programmes.
Each short course is structured to provide focused, practical, and flexible learning, suitable for individuals seeking personal development, enrichment, or specialised Quranic skills.
Tilawah & Tafsir
The Tilawah and Tafsir module provides a structured introduction to Qur’anic recitation and interpretation, covering the foundations of tafsir and usul al-tafsir, key methodologies, and the contributions of classical and Malay-world scholars.
Tarannum
The Tarannum-Murattal module is designed to develop learners’ ability to recite the Qur’an with proper melody and rhythm while maintaining the discipline of Murattal recitation.
Tahsin Al-Qiraah (Riwayah Hafs an Asim)
The Tahsin Al-Qiraah (Riwayah Hafs an Asim) class focuses on strengthening Qur’anic recitation accuracy through a systematic study of Qiraat and intensive talaqqi practice. This riwayah is the most widely used recitation in the Muslim world today.
Tahsin Al-Qiraah (Other Riwayah)
The Tahsin Al-Qiraah (Other Riwayah) class focuses on strengthening Qur’anic recitation accuracy through a systematic study of Qiraat and intensive talaqqi practice. This course follows the recitation styles of different Imams of Qira’at.
Hadith Studies
The Hadith Studies class special emphasis is given to Imam al-Bukhari, examining his life, teachers, students, methodology, and the compilation of Sahih al-Bukhari, including its structure, conditions, scholarly reception, and significance within hadith literature.
Basic Tahfiz
This Basic Tahfiz module is designed for beginners who wish to start memorising the Qur’an in a simple and structured way. The course focuses on short surahs and selected verses, with emphasis on correct pronunciation and basic tajwid.
Tahfiz
The Tahfiz module is to guide in the memorisation (Tahfiz) of the Qur’an in a structured and gradual manner. The course focuses on correct recitation, strong memorisation techniques, and consistent revision (muraja‘ah).
