Tilawah Proficiency Test (TPT) for Public
The TPT is used to assess Quranic proficiency for academic placement and programme exemption. Candidates who meet the minimum band are exempted from Quranic requirements at IIUM.

The Tilawah Proficiency Test, or TPT, is the official Tilawah proficiency assessment from CELPAD, IIUM.
It determines whether a candidate is exempted from them depending on their band.
As a placement test for newly admitted students.
As a proficiency test for public candidates (if applicable, per IfLA’s policy).
All new students (English medium) are required to sit for TPT to determine their ability in reciting al-Quran. Students will be evaluated based on their ability in reciting the Quran in terms of fluency and correctness. From here, we can facilitate the process of placing the students at their respective levels.
Public candidates seeking Tilawah proficiency certification via IfLA (if this option is available).
Students or applicants needing to meet language requirements for admission, placement, or course exemption.

According to CELPAD’s TPT guidelines:
It is compulsory for students to sit for TPT in their first year upon embarking on their undergraduate programme and then enrol in the Tilawah courses within the second year of study. However, should any student miss the TPT, they may apply for admission to the TPT public exam, subject to certain requirements.
For IRK, BARB and BAHIM students, they must sit for the TPT exam. If they are not exempted, they are required to take the necessary courses to gain exemption before registering for their Advanced Tilawah Courses (TQ 3001 and TQ 3002), which are required by their Kulliyyah.

How to Register
- Download the EPT guidelines & sample papers from above.
- Fill in the registration form (link provided on the page) and upload required documents (ID, photo, previous results, etc.).
- Complete payment (if applicable for public session).
- Receive confirmation and exam slip via email (or portal).
- Attend examination on the scheduled date and location as communicated.
