ABOUT PLANETIIUM
Institute of Planetary Survival for Sustainable Well-being (PLANETIIUM) is formerly known as IIUM Molecular and Cellular Biology Research Cluster (iMoleC) which was established in 2013. The research cluster comprised culture technology, reproductive biology, microbiology, biochemical analyses, animal study, and bioinformatics, and it managed to engage various experts at IIUM by having collaborative research and offering consultations and laboratory services.
The advent of COVID-19 has taught us that health issues cannot be solved in silos but it requires the integration of multi-disciplinary knowledge to provide holistic sustainable health solutions.
Therefore, in 2022 the cluster evolved into an institute that focuses on collaborative, multidisciplinary/ transdisciplinary research activities which cover molecular to global approaches to enhance impactful outcomes to benefit the community and industry. PLANETIIUM aims to form the core backbone technology to provide solutions to planetary health and survival.
VISION
To be a distinguished referred centre of excellence for conducting multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary research and innovations involving health, biodiversity, and climate change for commercial and community empowerment.
MISSION
Integrate multi/transdisciplinary research involving health, environment, biodiversity, and climate change to produce relevant solutions for commercialization and community empowerment to ensure talent development in sustainable well-being.
