EARTHLING: Planetary Health Learning Programme

Educare Planetary Health Learning Programme (EARTHLING) was first organised on 26th September 2023. This program was held on the same day of World Environmental Health Day 2023. Young children participate in this program, which aims to educate them on the importance of nurturing the environment and how it can impact their daily lives. Therefore, this event’s main goal is to ensure that all learners gain the knowledge and abilities necessary to implement the idea of sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles.

The program is designed to be enjoyable, featuring a variety of entertaining activities like games, singing, dancing, and quizzes. The content and syllabus is light and regularly revised, ensuring that the audience can easily understand and can easily put into practices in their everyday lives.

EARTHLING Programme is needed to be held and organize in order for young generations to implement the idea of nurturing the environment and caring for their future well-being. Thus, this event aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Education, and Sustainable Development Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

OBJECTIVES

  1. To expose young children to the significance of environmental preservation and the effects of human activities on the planet. It encourages children to recognize the importance of preserving nature for future generations.
  2. To nurture children to have feel a sense of belonging towards nature on a daily basis.

HOW COMMUNITY CAN BENEFIT FROM THE PROJECT?

  1. The young generation that learn and practice environmental responsibility will carry these values into adulthood, promoting sustainability in their personal lives and communities. This fosters a generation that is more likely to advocate for renewable energy, waste reduction, and responsible consumption.
  2. By teaching kids about environmental care such as recycling, reusing, upcycling and reducing resources, we create a society that values the earth’s finite resources. This helps to ensure that resources like water, forests, and minerals are managed more sustainably, preserving them for future generations.
  3. An environmentally conscious generation is more likely to adopt practices that reduce pollution, such as using public transportation, recycling, and minimizing waste. This can lead to improved air and water quality, benefiting public health and ecosystems.
  4. Environmentally conscious youth can inspire others, becoming leaders and advocates for change. They can influence peers, family members, and even broader societal trends, leading to a ripple effect of positive environmental impact.
  5. Educating the younger generation about environmental care, society invests in a healthier, more sustainable future, fostering a culture of stewardship and responsibility toward the planet.
