EARTHLING 4.0: From Awareness to Action, Inspires Young Minds Towards Planetary Health

On 27 June 2026, the Institute of Planetary Survival for Sustainable Well-being (PLANETIIUM), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) successfully organised the Educational Planetary Health Learning Programme (EARTHLING 4.0) under the theme “From Awareness to Action.”

The programme brought together Year 5 students from SK Assunta Convent (SKAC) and their accompanying teachers for a dynamic and engaging educational experience aimed at fostering early awareness of planetary health through experiential learning and career exposure.

Throughout the programme, participants took part in a series of interactive learning stations covering PLANETIIUM’s four core pillars—Health Empowerment, Climate Action, Biodiversity Conservation, and Food Security. Activities such as the Germ Detective Experiment, Puzzle Challenge, 3R Sorting Race Explorace, and Biodiversity Word Search enabled students to explore real-world environmental and health challenges while developing teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills.

The students also had the opportunity to visit PLANETIIUM’s facilities such as Frozen Zoo and the Integrated Laboratory Animal Services (iLAS) Rodent Laboratory, providing valuable insights into biodiversity conservation and scientific research.

A key highlight of the programme was the Career Exploration Forum, where undergraduate students from the Kulliyyah of Medicine, Kulliyyah of Pharmacy and Kulliyyah of Allied Health Sciences, IIUM, shared their academic experiences and future career pathways. The interactive session encouraged participants to broaden their aspirations and discover the diverse opportunities available within the fields of health, science, and sustainability.

EARTHLING 4.0 reflects PLANETIIUM’s continued commitment to empowering young learners with the knowledge, values, and skills needed to become responsible stewards of both human and planetary health. By integrating hands-on learning with meaningful career exposure, the programme supports the development of environmentally conscious and future-ready generations capable of contributing towards a more sustainable and resilient society.

PLANETIIUM extends its heartfelt appreciation to all organising committee members, facilitators, speakers, teachers, and participants whose dedication, enthusiasm, and support contributed to the successful implementation of EARTHLING 4.0. We look forward to continuing our efforts in advancing planetary health education and inspiring positive action for a sustainable future.
