On 15th July 2025, we successfully concluded another inspiring session of the EARTHLING series at IIUM Educare Kuantan — this time focusing on food security and environmental awareness through EARTHLING 3.0: Grow a Seed, Grow a Future. The program aimed to introduce children to the importance of growing their own food and understanding how individual actions contribute to a more sustainable and healthier planet. With a fun and educational approach, EARTHLING 3.0 encouraged young minds to connect with nature and appreciate the journey of food from seed to table.
The educational content was designed to help children understand how plants grow and why food security matters. Through simple explanations and engaging visuals, the children explored where food comes from, how it’s grown, and why it’s important to avoid food waste. The program also emphasized the value of sustainable practices, such as planting at home, eating healthy, and protecting our environment.
One of the main highlights of the program was the hands-on seed planting activity. Each child was given a small pot, soil, and seeds to plant, along with step-by-step guidance from the facilitators. Through this activity, the children learned about the conditions needed for a seed to grow, such as sunlight, water, and care. To make the learning more fun, the program also included storytelling sessions, interactive games, and songs related to nature and healthy eating. These activities helped reinforce the lessons and kept the children engaged throughout the program. The joy on their faces as they held their tiny planted seeds was a powerful reminder of how early education can nurture a love for the environment.
By the end of the program, the children left with more than just planted seeds — they gained a new appreciation for nature, a sense of responsibility, and the motivation to make healthier, more sustainable choices. EARTHLING 3.0 served as a meaningful step towards raising awareness about food security and instilling lifelong habits of sustainability.
